The analysis time of 30 min could be reduced substantially by conventional means of reducing particle size and column dimension (3 μm, 50 x 4.6 mm ID). To get the same results in terms of the chromatographic behaviour it is of importance to keep a constant gradient volume. Figures a and b show the method transfer to a 50 x 4.6 mm ID column. Increasing the flow rate to 1.5 ml/min was necessary to maintain the resolution and elution profile. Adjusting the gradient profile (figures b and c) led to a baseline resolution of the critical peak pair 10 and 11.
This conventional method was then transferred to ultra-fast analysis on a JASCO high pressure system using 2 μm particles. After modifying the chromatographic parameters the flow rate was again increased which reduced the analysis time in total by a factor of 10 (see figures 3d and e).

Invitation to YMC’s free vendor lunch seminar at SPICA

YMC ist auf der SPICA 2010

Every two years the leaders in preparative chromatography meet for the Symposium on Preparative and Industrial Chromatography and Allied Techniques (SPICA). As a supplier strongly rooted in preparative chromatography, YMC will participate in two ways:

Firstly, we would welcome you to visit our booth in the exhibition area. Here we are happy to meet existing and new clients to discuss the challenges of preparative chromatography.

Secondly, we invite you to our free lunch seminar on September 14.th 2010. Next to a free lunch you will get up to date information on YMC’s newest phases based on YMC-Triart multilayered hybrid material.

YMC-Triart features pH stability over a wide range of pH with scalability from analytical to preparative material - as usual with YMC bulk materials. YMC-Triart is produced with innovative micro reactor technology, which warrants superior reproducibility, very narrow pore size distribution and very well defined mechanically stable multilayered hybrid particles. All this for high capacity, highly economic preparative separations. At the same time, YMC-Triart features a balance between hydrophobicity and hydrogen bonding capacity which is unique for hybrid materials. This makes YMC-Triart a first choice in method development for all kind of separations.

Join us at SPICA to be among the first to see how YMC-Triart can improve your process, or helps solving those challenges you are facing. Also those registering their interest at SPICA will be among the first to receive a scout column or bulk sample of the new material.

SPICA is held from 12 to 15.th of September 2010 in Stockholm (Sweden) at Clarion Hotel Stockholm. For more information please visit www.spica2010.se .

Should you be unable to visit us at SPICA but are also interested in the new Triart bulk material? Feel free to contact us at the address given below:

Tricky syntheses in the micro-reactor

YMC is a specialist in difficult, multistep syntheses in the micro-reactor. Higher yields, substances that are available more quickly and with extensive downstream processing guarantee substances up to the highest purity.

MikroreaktorYMC offers syntheses and chromatographic clean-ups from a single source, in quantities from milligrams to kilograms. By applying complex micro-reactor systems, it is possible to put new synthesis routes to the test that are not possible in batch processing. This enables higher yields, fewer by-products and often shorter reaction times. This in turn means that the required substance is available more quickly and often at a higher purity level as well. In an initial feasibility study we test whether the required substance can be synthesised continuously in micro-fluidic systems. What YMC Europe can offer in the commercial field of syntheses on demand extends from research projects to the manufacture of new, complex molecules in quantities of only a few milligrams to process development and production by the kilogram.

Complex tasks, such as catalyst screening or temperature optimisation with extensive process data material, are dealt with quickly and efficiently by the automated synthesis platform. All process data is available after the end of the project and can be further used for scaling up or production.

YMC offers everything you would expect from a high-performance synthesis provider. We deal with the entire spectrum of preparative, organic chemistry, including stereo-selective syntheses such as the selection of suitable catalysts, whether organometallic or enzymatic.

Synthesis activities include:

  • Process development and production in kilogram quantities
  • Feasibility studies
  • Synthesis process research and optimisation
  • Parallel synthesis, process intensification and process data recording
  • Research commissions for multi-step syntheses of complex molecules
  • Syntheses of small quantities up to 1000g
  • Separations and purification using LC and HPLC in quantities from milligrams to kilograms.

What is more, YMC also synthesises metabolites, building blocks and reference substances on demand for its customers. Thanks to its extensive expertise in preparative LC and HPLC, YMC is also capable of making kilogram quantities of the highest purity (>98%) up to production scale.

We look forward to receiving your order and would be pleased to give you an individual quotation. Your contact person at YMC, Franz Pückler, is available to answer your questions or give a presentation at your company at any time.

PS: In our next e-mail you will find out more about the services we offer in terms of reaction calorimetry and process analysis. You can also send your questions directly to ujma@ymc.de: we will be happy to provide the information you need.
